Robots can walk, talk and now they can style your hair!

Robots can walk, talk and now they can style your hair!
Taking technology to a whole new level, Panasonic hascreated robotic hairdressers in Japan, using its latest robotic technology. These Japanese hair-washing robots replicate the touch of a human hand to care for the locks of the elderly and the infirm.
“Using robotic hand technology and 24 robotic fingers, this robot can wash the hair of handicapped in the way human hands do in order to help them have better daily lives,” said developer Tohru Nakamura.
The customer comfortably leans back in a regular salon chair, over a sink, and the robot shampoos, massages the scalp and rinses in about three minutes. Conditioning and blow-dry take another five minutes. They carry out the tasks like human care-givers, and do it with great efficiency.
Nakamura feels that Japan’s aging society creates a healthy market for care-giving robot technologies.
“We will develop more care-giving technologies for the elderly or handicapped in Japan and will export those technologies to other aging societies, such as South Korea and China, in the future,” Nakamura said.
Panasonic plans to start sales of these machines next year, and target nursing homes and hospitals initially.
Now, with these robotic hairdressers at work, the human hairdressers can finally let their hair down.
